EXPRESSOH!
THE BRIEF
Design an application to order coffee, then produce a rapid prototype in POP.
This was a very quick two day project intedned to introduce rapid prototyping. I was responsible for all the output. I had alot of fun on this project. Rapid prototyping is an easy way to get your ideas out there quickly for immediate feedback from users. It's also low cost, informative, slimming and very easy on the gums.
USER INSIGHTS

Notes taken while at the Hound's Tooth Coffee Shop.
I went to Hound's Tooth Coffee, made direct observations and took notes of my own experience. I interviewed coffee shop customers and Baristas to gather ideas and information.
AFFINITY DIAGRAM | MIND MAP
I used mind mapping and an affinity diagram to work this problem out. After generating a user flow [shown below] I picked up paper, scissors, tape and markers to rapidly generate my ideas. Those ideas were photographed and pulled into POP for interactivity testing.
USER FLOW
PROTOTYPE CONSTRUCTION
After establishing a user flow of ordering a coffee , it's time to assemble a prototype to test. At the left you can see my paper construction technique.
I LEARNED
-
Pop is a great way to quickly prototype ideas.
-
Work atomically: build reusable elements
NEXT STEPS
-
Needs a 'login' and 'register' set of interactions
-
On-boarding - create a fun tutorial that explains the application.
-
Higher fidelity Balsamiq
FINAL PRODUCT
Coffee is served: here's the final POP app created for testing. Take it for a spin (click on the phone) and don't forget to send me feedback!
